Let a photograph or cover image fill the frame. Crop it deliberately and keep important details away from lyric and title areas.

A controlled field of color can feel more specific than generic footage. It also gives type a predictable surface.

Start with a motion background when the record needs depth or drift. Reduce the effect until it feels connected to the pace of the song.
Match background color and motion to your song
The most useful music backgrounds establish a world without demanding to become the subject. Color temperature, contrast, scale, and motion speed can imply intimacy, pressure, distance, warmth, or unease before a lyric arrives.
That does not require visual noise. One slow movement through a limited palette can carry more conviction than several unrelated effects. If you cannot explain what the movement adds to the song, remove it and listen again.

Readability
Keep lyrics readable over a moving background
Lyrics become hard to read when the background changes contrast behind them. Watch more than the opening frame. A pale lyric can vanish when the image brightens, and a dark title can collapse into a shadowed photograph.
Use a quieter crop, a controlled gradient, a stronger outline, or a different lyric position before reaching for heavy glow. The goal is not to prove the text has effects. The goal is to let someone read it on a phone without effort.
If the background has one bright moving area, keep that area away from the lyric block. Composition is a more durable fix than adding another layer of styling to the words.

How much motion should a music background use?
Match speed to musical time
Slow songs usually need less movement, not slow versions of every possible effect. Fast songs can still benefit from one calm visual anchor.
Save detail for the focal point
