DeadMod Studio

Turn your album cover into a moving release visual

DeadMod Studio turns static cover art into a video by placing it inside a moving, audio-reactive frame. Use the art as a full background or a centered cover, then add motion, titles, lyrics, or a visualizer.

DeadMod does not separate the objects in your artwork or animate individual layers. It animates the composition around the finished image and can make the frame respond to your song.

Two honest approaches

Use album art as a background or centered cover

Full-frame artwork

Use the image as the background and crop it for the chosen format. This makes the cover itself the environment and leaves room for restrained type or a low visualizer.

Centered cover overlay

Keep the square artwork intact over a gradient or saved motion background. A radial visualizer or pulse can frame the cover without changing the original image.

Keep the original album cover recognizable

A cover already contains decisions about color, type, framing, and tone. The video works when the added motion extends those decisions. Pull colors from the image. Leave important lettering alone. Give the artwork enough scale to remain recognizable in a feed.

If a visualizer competes with the cover, make it smaller or choose pulse. If the background looks unrelated, simplify it to a gradient. Animation is useful when it makes the still image feel present for the duration of the song, not when it replaces the art direction.

The workflow

How to animate an album cover in three steps

  1. 01

    Upload the song and cover

Choose an MP3 and the finished artwork from your device. Decide whether the cover should fill the frame or remain visible as a centered object.

  2. 02

    Add the right movement

Pair the art with a gradient or saved motion background, then add a waveform, radial visualizer, spectrum, or pulse if the song needs a visible response.

  3. 03

    Frame and export

Add clean title or branding, choose horizontal, vertical, or square, and render the finished release visual in the browser.

Motion choices

Add motion without separating artwork layers

A saved motion background can create depth behind a centered cover. A waveform can anchor the bottom of a horizontal frame. A radial spectrum can make the album art feel like the center of the sound. A pulse can supply the smallest possible response.

These are compositional effects. DeadMod does not identify a face, title, flower, car, or other element inside a flattened cover and move it separately. If you need character rigging, parallax from isolated layers, or object-level animation, you need layered source art and a different motion workflow.

Release formats

Export animated album covers in three formats

Horizontal

Use side space for titles or let a centered square cover sit inside a wider background world.

Vertical

Keep essential art away from the top and bottom edges and check that type remains readable on a phone.

Square

A natural fit for intact cover art, especially with a radial or subtle pulse response.

Full-song export

Render the complete visual with the song as MP4 where supported or WebM as a browser fallback.

Practical advice

Practical album cover animation tips

Begin with the cover alone for ten seconds. Add one source of motion. If the piece feels complete, stop. Add titles only when they supply information that the cover does not already make clear.

Check the smallest version you expect people to see. Fine texture, thin type, and detailed visualizers can disappear in a feed. Shape, color, and one legible name survive.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can DeadMod animate parts of my album cover separately?

No. DeadMod does not separate or animate individual elements inside a flattened artwork file. It animates the frame around the art and adds audio-reactive graphics.

Can the cover react to the music?

Yes. You can pair it with waveform, spectrum, radial, or pulse treatments that respond to the uploaded MP3.

Can I keep the square artwork intact?

Yes. Use the cover as a centered overlay over a background instead of cropping it to fill the frame.

What video shapes can I make?

DeadMod includes horizontal 16:9, vertical 9:16, and square frame presets.

Can I add the song title and artist name?

Yes. Custom text and branding controls can be added to the release visual.
