This Privacy Policy explains how DeadMod ("DeadMod," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use DeadMod Studio at deadmod.com.
1. What we collect
When you use DeadMod Studio, we collect your email address and account/session information. We also store the project information you choose to save, such as song title, source filename, transcript and timing data, audio-analysis data, visual settings, presets, creator links, feedback, and basic usage records.
We collect limited security information such as IP-derived signals, user-agent signals, approximate Cloudflare location signals, and rate-limit events to prevent abuse, protect accounts, and keep the service running. We may collect product analytics events through PostHog when analytics is configured.
2. Your audio and media
DeadMod is designed to keep raw MP3s, uploaded images, logos, and exported video files in your browser. We do not store those raw media files in our D1 database. If you request transcription, your audio is sent to the configured transcription provider for that request and processed transiently. The resulting transcript and compact project metadata may be saved.
Browser storage is local to your device. Clearing browser storage can remove local media or drafts that were not saved elsewhere.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide and secure DeadMod, authenticate users, save projects and presets, transcribe audio when requested, improve the product, respond to support, understand basic product usage, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
4. Service providers
We use infrastructure and email services from Cloudflare, Better Auth for authentication, and PostHog for product analytics when enabled. Transcription may use Cloudflare Workers AI or OpenAI Whisper when configured. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services and may have their own terms and privacy policies.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use necessary cookies and browser storage for sessions, security, preferences, drafts, and app operation. We do not sell personal information or use DeadMod for cross-site behavioral advertising. Analytics is used to understand product usage, not to inspect your song files or lyric text.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep account and saved project data while your account exists, unless you delete it sooner. Short-lived rate-limit, login, email-health, and support-delivery records are cleaned up on bounded retention schedules, generally around 60 days. Consent and limited account-deletion audit records may be kept longer when needed for legal, security, or accounting purposes.
You can delete your account from Settings. You can also email will@starterbuild.com for access, correction, deletion, or privacy questions. Deletion may not remove information we must keep for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute records.
7. Sharing and transfers
We share information with service providers that help operate DeadMod, and when necessary to comply with law, protect people or the service, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer. DeadMod is operated from the United States, and information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate.
8. Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of certain information, and to object to certain processing. Contact us at will@starterbuild.com. We may verify your identity before completing a request. If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with a privacy regulator, you may also complain to that regulator.
9. Children
DeadMod is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Do not use DeadMod to process children’s information without the permissions and notices required by law.
10. Security and changes
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no internet service is perfectly secure. We may update this policy as DeadMod changes. If an update materially changes how we use information, we will provide notice through the service, email, or another reasonable method. The current version is always available at /privacy.
